Do you accept insurance? We are not in-network with insurance plans. However, many families still receive reimbursement! We happily accept Katie Beckett Waiver funding, as well as FSA and HSA cards. We also provide superbills (detailed receipts with all the codes and info needed) that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Learn more about how to use superbills here. We're here to help guide you through that process if you need support! Email billing@braxyspeechtherapy.com for billing questions.
-
What’s the reason for staying out-of-network with insurance? We’ve made the intentional choice to not contract directly with insurance companies because it often means following rigid guidelines that don’t reflect what’s best for each child. Insurance plans can limit the types of therapy we’re allowed to provide, how often we can see your child, what we target, and even what counts as “progress.” These restrictions make it difficult for us to offer the play-based, relationship-driven, and individualized therapy that truly supports your child and that we whole heartedly believe in. At the same time, we know therapy is an investment—and we take the financial side seriously. That’s why we’ve done our best to keep our rates as accessible as possible, accept HSA and FSA cards, and provide superbills for families seeking out-of-network reimbursement. If your child meets the criteria, we also recommend looking into the Katie Beckett Waiver, which many families use to cover therapy. We’re always willing to work with you to create a schedule that fits both your family’s needs and your budget, because our goal is to offer high-quality therapy that is both effective and accessible.
-
How long are therapy sessions? Evaluations?Therapy sessions are typically 30-45 min long depending on the needs of the child. Evaluations are 1 hour and may take additional sessions to complete. Following an evaluation, parents are provided with a detailed written report with the evaluation results, recommendations, and a diagnosis if applicable.
-
If I have an evaluation from early intervention or another clinic do you have to do another one?If a child has had an evaluation within the last year from EI, school, or other clinic, we can accept it as long as it is a good reflection of their current skills. We can also do our own evaluation if you'd like second opinion or for us to “dig deeper”.
-
Do you diagnose autism?A SLP does not solely diagnose autism unless they are working with a team of professionals. However, we would be happy to discuss any autism characteristics that you may be noticing and refer you to a professional that can diagnose autism.
-
How many words should my child be saying by 12 months? 2 years?A child should be saying one word utterances by one year of age. By two years old, children should be combining two words (e.g. more milk).
-
Do you offer OT, PT, ABA, or counseling? Not at this time, but we may in the future.
